Fighting Back Partnership’s Neighborhood Revitalization Program is an investment in the quality of life of some of
Vallejo’s most underserved and under resourced communities. Property crime, drug dealing, gang activity, prostitution, squatting, vandalism, and illegal dumping rob a neighborhood of
vitality. Residents don’t feel safe or good about where they live, and criminal elements take advantage of the neglect.
But when a community decides that enough is enough, change is possible. In collaboration with community residents and the City of Vallejo, Fighting Back Partnership
launched its highly effective Neighborhood Revitalization Program to empower residents to take back their communities and to stand up to those who threaten their quality of
life. Fighting Back begins with face-to-face, door-to-door engagements with residents, encouraging them to reaffirm their investments in their homes, their children’s safety, and
their communities. Fighting Back then collaborates with community residents through technical assistance to organize, to physically clean up the neighborhood, and to erect a
resident-driven community safety program. It’s an investment that has paid off for 34 neighborhoods that have been restored to a higher degree of safety, pride, and appearance
During and after the Neighborhood Revitalization Program, neighborhoods are
Less vulnerable to crime
Better maintained with cleaner streets and an absence of graffiti, abandoned cars, and illegal dumping
Better integrated into city services and have a higher degree of trust between residents and law enforcement
Better places for businesses to thrive
