Strengthening Families

The Challenge

Under-resourced families in distressed communities have particular challenges achieving the American dream.  Even the Federal Reserve Bank in its report, The Enduring Challenge of Concentrated Poverty in America , recognizes that these communities often have unfair impediments to accessing the mainstream economy and climbing out of poverty, and Vallejo is no exception. And yet, the expectation is that people will do better if they try harder even when the resources necessary to do better aren’t there.

Our Approach

Fighting Back Partnership recognizes that all families need support to succeed.  Our kids need exceptional education systems to prepare for a demanding job market.  Families need high-quality affordable housing that offers peace and security.  And working-age adults need accessible living wage jobs to achieve self-sufficiency.

At Fighting Back, we don’t build dependency.  We help build resiliency in people who want the best for themselves and their families.  Through our Family Resource Centers, the SparkPoint Solano Program, and our Youth Development Programs, we are seeing real change in the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of our families and youth.
